I offer comprehensive lessons in composition and arranging with a focus on jazz. My approach covers everything from solo pieces to small groups and big bands, extending beyond traditional formats to explore innovative and contemporary jazz compositions. Students will learn the foundational principles of jazz harmony, melody, and rhythm, while also delving into advanced techniques for arranging and orchestrating for various ensembles.

Trombone

With experience as a seasoned trombonist with a rich background in both performance and instruction, I offer lessons for trombone and bass trombone players that cater to all skill levels. My approach combines technical instruction with a focus on jazz improvisation and ensemble playing. Drawing from my time as a bass trombonist and Assistant Enlisted Conductor in the Marine Corps, I emphasize the importance of discipline, practice, and musicality. Whether preparing for auditions, performances, or personal improvement, my lessons aim to help students excel in their trombone playing and understand their role in a jazz ensemble.

I provide in-depth lessons in music theory with a strong emphasis on jazz theory. These lessons are designed to equip students with a thorough understanding of harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic concepts that are fundamental to jazz music.
