We have been recording at Deane Chapel on the Westmont campus. Seven days of quiet and good weather. So far there are six of the string quartets captured and twelve of the Tealights.


The Tealights are short pieces for Saw and Piano or Bass with Toy piano. In both cases Anna Abbey was playing the piano. The Quartet is myself on Bass, Sally Barr and Laura Hackstein playing Violin and our slightly new member Nick Coventry on Viola. Here is a quick sampling of the progress ...

Work on the new CD is on hold for the month of February. I have taken an acting job. This is a first. The show is Thorton Wilder’s “Our Town”. It is going up at the Lobero Theater on 2/25 through 3/7.

It is produced by Santa Barbara Theater  www.SBTheatre.org   and directed by John Blondell (from Lit Moon). I have to learn lines. Also I have to remember lines !

The Gove County String Quartet will play a set of completely improvised music at Muddy Waters Cafe at 8PM. Cover is $8.Tickets at the door. The address is 508 East Haley St. , Santa Barbara.

The Gove County String Quartet and Anna Abbey will play at The Center Stage Theater. This is our CD release concert featuring new music from “It’s Only Gravity That Makes Wearing A Crown Painful”. The concert will feature seven new quartet pieces and twelve short pieces for toy and real piano and Double Bass or Melodica. Hear an irreverent homage to Mister Rogers and find out who was bewitched by the baby in a clam shell !The address is 751 Paseo Nuevo.  http://www.centerstagetheater.org The time is 8PM. Jim Connolly and Anna Abbey will perform at The Piano Shop. This fabulous new space is located at 421 East Cota St. in Santa Barbara. Enter though Cominichi’s. They are open late and selling things at discounted prices !

Also performing will be Cascada de Flores playing Mexican and Cuban folk music. Bring your own pillow or chair and drink. Donation is suggested at $10.  The time is 8PM.

Anna Abbey, Kevin Connolly ( from Boston , my brother ! ) and Sean Kennedy play a show at The Piano Shop. 8 PM, No Cover, BYO drinks and pillow or chair.
